La Cátedra de Investigación Científica Del Instituto de Física se realiza una vez al año y en la cual el investigador invitado realiza una visita de una semana durante la cual imparte tres platicas y convive con estudiantes, maestros e investigadores.

 

Tiene el doble propósito de, por un lado, comunicar a los miembros de la sociedad y a las autoridades, la importancia de la investigación y la generación de nuevo conocimiento para el avance social y educativo, y por otra parte, fomentar el contacto académico íntimo entre los miembros de la comunidad científica local con los más destacados investigadores internacionales en las áreas de conocimiento que se cultivan regionalmente.

En concordancia esta cátedra es abierta al público en general y hacemos hincapié en la participación de los estudiantes. Esto, con el objetivo de exponer a los estudiantes y profesores a la investigación científica de vanguardia y difundir las contribuciones de la ciencia y la educación para el bien común.

A los estudiantes en particular, este evento les alienta a continuar su educación y seguir su carrera científica y a los profesores les presenta una oportunidad única dentro de su formación continua y para vincularse a laboratorios y centros del más alto nivel.

La cátedra ha sido previamente ocupada por científicos que han realizado contribuciones esenciales en los campos de la biofísica, como el Dr. Carlos Bustamante de la Universidad de California, Berkeley, la mecánica estadística, como con el Dr. Miguel Rubí de la Universidad Autónoma de Cataluña, o en el campo de la física atómica y molecular como es el caso del Premio Nobel de Física, el Dr William D. Philips.

La Cátedra de investigación Científica del Instituto de Física inició el 2007 y desde entonces hémos recibido las visitas de distinguidos científicos de diferentes áreas de la Física,
