Alma Gabriela Palestino Escobedo was born in Xilitla, San Luis Potosí
(México). She received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from San Luis
Potosí University in 1990. She joined Faculty of Chemistry in August
1992 as a teaching. She taught for some years Physical-Chemistry and Instrumental
Techniques. She began her master in 1999 and she received the master in chemical
engineering in octuber 2001. Her master work involved the study of the photocatalityc
degradation of methyl parathion studing the reaction pathway and intermediate
reaction products. In february 2003, she began to work in with Professor Elías
Pérez from the Institute of Physics focused in the design of new biomaterials.
At the present time Gabriela Palestino is studing a Ph.D. in the University at
Montpellier II, France. Her Ph. D work is about the optical properties of porous
silicon crystals with emphasis in the development of biosensing devices.
