Travel and Hotel Information

The conference will be held at the "Iberostar Quetzal" all-inclusive resort in Playa del Carmen (PlayCar), Mexico, at the "Mayan Riviera". We received a very attractive group offer from that hotel. Booking instructions are given below.

The closest airport is Cancun, at a distance of 60km (40miles), connected via a 4-lane highway. Economic flights from all over the world are available to Cancun. Transportation to/from the airport will be organized by the local committee, if necessary.

Participants are expected to make their travel arrangements individually. Your local travel agent can usually find low cost flights to Cancun, maybe even with a combined stay at the "Iberostar Quetzal" as a "vacation" package deal. The conference will start with the first session on Tuesday, November 30, at 9am. Your arrival day should be November 29. The conference will end on Sunday, December 5, around noon.

We have rooms blocked at the Iberostar Quetzal at a daily rate of 95 dollars per person in double occupation and 120 dollars per person in a single room. As mentioned earlier, the hotel is all-inclusive, e.g. the price includes all meals and drinks (with exception of the conference dinner). Be sure to mention that you will attent the "5th International Workshop on Ring Imaging Cherenkov Detectors". If you can get a package deal (flight plus hotel) via your travel agent, and the cost is lower than booking flight and hotel separately, take the package.

Playa del Carmen is a tourist place. Hotels are lined up along the beach for more than 10km. Be carefull when you decide to book a different hotel, some of them might be far away from the Iberostar Quetzal.

After you booked your flight and hotel, please let us know via the registration page your travel arrangements. Also please notify us if their will be any change.

Thanks to some of the sponsers, we can offer partial support for participants from dis-favored countries and students (or young postdocs) to attend the conference. Depending on the sponser, preference will be given to women, minorities and people from the Americas. We expect that supported participants submit a contribution. You should fill out the "comment" box of the registration page to justify why you need support.
