Atomic physics in cold gases
Eduardo Gomez

Absorption image of a dipole trap (Sep 15, 2011)

The group exploits the techniques of laser cooling to confine the atoms and reduce their temperature way below 1 mK. This cold and confined sample provides the ideal environment for several studies of atomic physics. Some of the research interests include:

       - Interactions between atoms and surfaces
       - Fundamental symmetries
       - Atoms in optical lattices

Interested? I am looking for motivated students to work on some of the projects. You will learn about lasers and modern experimental techniques in atomic physics.
