Microfluidics

The manipulation of fluids in channels with dimensions on the order of tens of microns has led to a new field of research, microfluidics. Microfluidics devices allow for synthesis of new materials, conducting chemical reactions, encapsulate biological samples, biological testing, etc.. all this in a controlled and by using very small volumes. In complex fluids lab makes use of microfluidics to produce emulsions, this by focussing on flow technique. The advantage of making the emulsions by this technique is that the droplets formed are monodisperse, well you can control the droplet size depending on the flow of fluids used.
